Visual Treat | 002 - Gunmad
'GUNMAD is Guðmundur Ingi Úlfarsson and Mads Freund Brunse, one Icelandic and one Danish graphic designer working together between Rekjavík and London. Stylistically these guys are at the very edge of minimal, striving for typographic purity and structural perfection, with no white space disturbed by imagery or text unless absolutely necessary.
They’re also incredibly experimental, channeling an enormous amount of energy into research in a manner that’s rarely seen outside of academic institutions. The walls of their studio are thick with typographic sketches, slices of inspirational imagery and any other snippets of visual paraphernalia that might expand the scope of their practice.’

Visual Treat | 001 - Raphael Hefti
After staring at these images during my lunch, I thought I’d start sharing selected visual treats I find on my quest for inspiration every day. So to kick it off, here is Hefti’s wonderfully colourful work.
Raphael Hefti has a novel approach to his experimentation with sculptural and image making materials. His works blur typical boundaries between natural/industrial, abstract/representational and thereby show new ways of considering the artwork outside of established narratives. In the scope of these ‘tests’ Hefti frequently collaborates with technicians, scientists and even dogs in order to reveal unexpected beauty in ordinary materials such as photopaper and steel.
